What do Contor Associates do?

Contor Associates has been formed by Baz Hartnell to provide a conduit for businesses to greatly improve their sales performance through the bespoke development of practical selling tools and strategies, in a way that minimises the disruption of current day-to-day sales activities. Substantial improvements can be achieved whether sales are facilitated through distributors, value added resellers or through a direct sales forces.

 Who are Contor Associates services aimed at?

There are several areas where Contor Associates can be successfully employed to help businesses, specifically where there are gaps between current sales performance and what is aspired to.
  1. Strong competitive activity is undermining sales.
  2. The business is too dependent on too few customers.
  3. There is too strong a dependency on one or two sales people or distributors, the loss of whom would be catastrophic for the business.
  4. The business is entering a new market or launching a new product and there is a need to maximise the impact of the launch
  5. There is an intent to expand sales through more non direct distribution and there needs to be a more professional sales approach to kick start activities.
  6. It takes too long for new sales employees to come up to speed and the business wants to fast-track new sales people to deliver sales results more quickly.
  7. Distributors (internationally or domestic), or other alternative sales channels are not delivering the expected sales results

How do Contor Associates operate?

Having recognised a need for many years, Contor Associates has been formed to develop and apply a unique sales competency framework that enable Contor to work alongside sales teams in a way which minimises disruption of day to day sales activities, but still facilitate the timely creation of a bespoke model of best sales practice, complemented by a suite of practical sales tools. Dissemination of this knowledge throughout the sales organisation (direct or distribution) is then carried out through a combination of applied workshops, coaching and mentoring to immediately improve sales performance.

Career Biography on Baz Hartnell

Originally an Electronics Engineer, Baz moved into business to business sales over sixteen years ago, and for the past nine he has held various Sales and Marketing Directorships in both UK and US companies, all with international responsibilities. In these roles he has been instrumental in:

  • Winning the Queen's Award for Export in 1997 for an industrial laser company, working through both a direct sales force and distributors in Europe, the USA and Asia. ·    
  • Helped another company to be placed 15th in The Sunday Times / PriceWaterhouseCoopers Profit Track 100 Award in 2001 for UK companies (measured by highest profit growth).

Qualifications

Baz has the following academic qualifications: 

BSc (Hons) in Electronics Engineering MBA with distinction, having also been recognised for coming top of his academic year.

MSc in Coaching and Development, which Baz is currently studying part time.

Perhaps most importantly of all, Baz has a passion for professional selling.
